We like to say, “We’re making jazz every year” — improvising with nature’s rhythms to craft wines that are fresh, local, and alive. Each label is a one-of-a-kind piece of art, reflecting the wine inside.
After over 20 years at The Ojai Vineyard, Fabien Castel set out to create something entirely new — a hyper-local wine culture that gives Ojai and the surrounding county a distinct, rooted expression.
In partnership with Ojai Valley Brewery, Fabien embraced a brewery-style approach — kegs, draft systems, and production methods that drastically reduce packaging waste. It’s a more sustainable way to enjoy wine, grounded in the valley’s bounty.
All of our wines come from fruit grown in Ojai and nearby farms like Carpinteria. We’re not just making wine; we’re creating living expressions of each harvest. Every year is different. We work with what the land gives us and turn it into something unexpected.
Side Street Wine and Ojai Valley Brewery are two sides of the same voice — a creative conversation with the valley. You can taste that conversation in every pour at our Tasting Room on Bryant Street in Ojai.

Love / Hate - Sauvignon Blanc - captures the grape’s dual nature—bold, opinionated, and unforgettable. From Shepard Mesa in Carpinteria, a cool, ocean-kissed site where fruit struggles to ripen, comes a lean, racy, citrusy edge. From Two Horses in upper Ojai, a warm, secluded canyon, comes slow-ripened fruit with lush, tropical notes.

Décroissance (degrowth) - Sparkling Piquet - embodies sustainable winemaking through its unique Piquette style—traditionally made by vineyard workers from rehydrated grape skins and stems for a light, 3.5–7% wine to drink in the fields.
